LeAnn Luna holds a dual appointment as an associate professor with the
Department of Accounting and Information Management and with the Center for
Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee. Her primary
research interest is state and local tax policy with a focus on sales and use
taxes, the state corporate income tax, and tax competition between state and
local governments. In addition, her current research on §529 college savings
plans has received national attention. Dr. Luna has published in journals
including, Journal of the American Taxation Association, National Tax Journal,
Journal of State Taxation, and Public Finance Review. Dr. Luna is a CPA and
received a B.B.A. in accounting from Southern Methodist University, a Master of
Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law, and her Ph.D. from the
University of Tennessee. Earlier in her career, Dr. Luna amassed nearly a decade
of corporate experience that included senior positions with an international
accounting firm and private industry.
