RESEARCH ASSOCIATE III
The University of Tennessee is
seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Associate III in the
Center for Business and Economic Research. The person will manage and operate
the Tennessee State Data Center and serve as the Governor's Liaison between the
State of Tennessee and the U.S. Census Bureau. Must understand, analyze,
disseminate and explain all types of economic and demographic data to business,
government and household data users across Tennessee. Requirements also include
presenting all relevant data, designing and conducting training programs for
state affiliate members. A Bachelor's Degree is required plus six to eight years
experience with preference given to background in economics, statistics, or a
related field. Further education could be substituted for some experience. The
person must exercise initiative in promoting necessary State Data Center/Census
cooperative activities. Significant experience working with data handling
software is necessary. Some travel is required.
For this core position in a
major new area of research and analysis for state government, a mature
individual with professionalism and initiative is preferred and should possess
the ability to think logically and critically. This person should possess time
management skills and be highly proficient in using the Internet, email, and a
variety of computer applications. Duties include, but are not limited to,
preparing reports on research and demographic data; writing training materials
for data users; working with Principal Investigators to design and carry out
research projects that rely on Census and other data; interacting regularly and
skillfully with state and local government officials as well as working closely
with CBER staff.
